Pereiro bridge waterfall

Next to the Pereiro bridge, in Vilar de Murteda, we find a waterfall that integrates the course of the Fulão River. The driving force of hydraulic energy was used by a sawmill located in the vicinity that had a mill moved by the force of the water.

In this parish, the use of all water lines with sufficient flow for cereal mills and sawmill and linen mills has multiplied until the middle of the 20th century. There is also the memory of a stomp, that is, a mill to press cloths, namely woolen fabrics, to strengthen them, which will be the origin of the name of this river. In this watercourse alone there are traces of seven mills, two of which were still in operation in the nineties of the last century.
