Santa Marta wayside cross

Decreed a national monument on July 13, 1956, it is located on Avenida Comendador Parente Ribeiro. Its construction dates from the 19th century. Formed by six staggered octagonal steps on which a column based on curved lines is decorated with wreaths and interlaced leaves; a torso stem with flowers in the intervals and at the top over the corbels the sculptural group representing the Virgin with the Child is evident. Sculpted, four angels holding hands stand out. Finishing with a Latin cross, with lateral pyramidal finishing rods and the upper one with cartouche and with Christ sculpted. An 18th century wayside cross, of path or crossroads, of great decorative richness, integrated in the tradition of wayside crosses in the North of the country.
