Granaries are constructions that appear throughout the northwest of the peninsula and are often associated with the rural landscape. Also called canastro or caniceiro, depending on the type of materials used for its construction, the granary works as a barn to store corn. The dimensions of the granaries depend essentially on the quantity of the production.

In order to allow corn to dry, the granaries are usually built in areas of higher ground.
